Meeting Mary - Our Lady of the Vine
Sunday, March 9, 2025
In this engaging event, participants took part in four rotation activities inspired by the origin story of Our Lady of the Vine (1417). Each activity was designed to reflect aspects of the story, blending creativity, teamwork, and spiritual reflection.
Painting a Tile of Mother Mary: Just like the painter who create the original image of Our Lady of the Vine, participants were invited to paint their own tiles of Mother Mary, focusing on the beauty of her image and the challenge of capturing her grace. This activity connected participants to the origins of the devotion, where the original painting was said to be perfect and unique.
Finding the Tile of Mother Mary: In this activity, participants searched for hidden tiles featuring images of Mother Mary. This mirrored the story of the discovery of the original image, where the miraculous appearance of the Virgin led to its reverence and veneration. The search symbolized the quest for divine inspiration and the pursuit of faith.
Playing Hide and Seek: This game reflected the story of the knight who hid from his enemies. The knight’s story represents the hidden aspects of faith and how, at times, one may need to seek refuge near Mary to be saved by our Lord. The participants, in turn, reflected on the idea of seeking and being found, mirroring the spiritual journey of seeking God’s presence in our lives.
Hoop Hop with a Team to Practice Our Prayers to Reach Salvation: In this activity, teams worked together, hopping through hoops while practicing prayers. The hoop hop symbolized the path to salvation, and the teamwork emphasized how we journey together in faith, supporting each other in our prayerful practices to reach spiritual fulfillment.
Each activity helped participants connect with the core themes of Our Lady of the Vine's origin story, which involves faith, reverence, seeking, and striving toward salvation through prayer and unity. The event not only fostered creativity and fun but also deepened participants' spiritual reflections on the devotion to Our Lady of the Vine.
