Meeting Mary - Our Lady of Sorrows

Sunday, September 15, 2024

The recent event focused on Our Lady of Sorrows (feast day September 15) offered participants a profound opportunity to reflect on the seven sorrows Mary endured throughout her life. Through engaging discussions, participants learned about each sorrow, including the prophecy of Simeon, the flight into Egypt, the loss of the child Jesus in the temple, Mary meeting Jesus on the way to Calvary, the crucifixion, the body of Jesus being taken down from the cross, and the burial of Jesus. Each sorrow highlighted Mary’s deep faithfulness and strength in the face of immense pain.

As the participants reflected on these sorrows, they developed a deeper understanding of Entrustment to Mary’s Faithfulness and were encouraged to say "Yes" to God's call in their own lives, just as Mary did. To commemorate the significance of this devotion, the participants created keychains featuring images of the heart of Our Lady, a symbol of her deep suffering and unwavering love. These keychains served as a personal reminder of the sorrows Mary experienced, helping participants carry the lessons of faith and courage in their daily lives.
