Meeting Mary - Our Lady of Light

Sunday, February 9, 2025

The story of Our Lady of Light (feast day February 27) is one of faith, healing, and divine intervention. A woman suffering from severe chest pain and losing her voice was taken to Palermo, where she was miraculously healed through the intercession of the Virgin Mary. This miracle was tied to an image of the Virgin, and while many copies were made, none could replicate the perfection of the original. Even the painter who created it could not duplicate his first work. Just as the painter could not duplicate the perfection of the original image of the Virgin Mary, the participants of the game were reminded that even though many representations of Our Lady exist, none can truly capture the fullness of her grace and intercession in our lives. This exercise connected a fun, interactive game to a deep spiritual lesson, illustrating how the perfect image of Our Lady of Light represents Mary’s unique and irreplaceable role in the lives of Catholics. It encouraged participants to reflect on her ability to heal, guide, and intercede for us, reinforcing her significance in the Catholic faith.
