Lenten Mission 2024
Monday-Wednesday, March 25-27, 2025
The Lenten Mission was a two-day event hosted in collaboration with the Religious Education program, welcoming both general participants and Confirmation students to deepen their faith during the season of Lent.
On the first day, the focus was on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, when Jesus shared His final meal with His disciples and instituted the Eucharist. Good Friday remembers the crucifixion and death of Jesus, a day of solemn reflection on His sacrifice for humanity. To bring these moments to life, participants acted out the Last Supper and the Stations of the Cross, followed by a reflective review on the meaning of these events. The day ended with a Salesian Goodnight, a tradition of prayer and reflection, fostering a sense of peace and community.
The second day revolved around the theme of Letting Go and Finding Peace, starting with an Examination of Conscience. Participants had the opportunity to Kneel to the Cross, symbolizing their surrender and reflection on the importance of Jesus' sacrifice. After a time of reflection, the day concluded with a final Salesian Goodnight and a fun yet meaningful three-legged relay race, symbolizing the strength found in unity and community. The relay race served as a reminder of the joy and celebration that Easter brings after the solemnity of Good Friday.
This Lenten Mission provided participants with an immersive, hands-on experience to reflect on the passion of Christ, engage in prayer, and celebrate the hope and peace that comes with the Easter resurrection.
